Bestia Bebé is one of those bands that immediately captures your attention. I first heard the bands cover of Daniel Johnston's "True Love Will Find You In The End" back in 2017.
The band formed in 2011 in Boedo, Argentina and is composed of Tom Quintans (guitar, vocals, keys), Chicho Guisolfi (bass), El Polaco Ocorso (drums), and Topo Topino (guitar). We had the opportunity to talk to the band about Music, Daniel Johnston, and milanesa. Check it out!

Isaac Gutierrez ForBorn Loser Magazine: To start off, can you introduce yourselves for those who may not be familiar with Bestia Bebé?
BB: We're 4 friends that make songs, record albums, and play live. We like heavy guitar and catchy, emotional choruses.
BL: The band formed in 2011, what where you doing before starting Bestia Bebé?
BB: We played in other bands, we had different jobs, and we were younger.
BL: How did Bestia Bebé come together?
BB: Tom played his songs as a solo act, but every now and then he was accompanied by friends. One day he wanted to assemble a permanent band and he called up Chicho to play bass, Polaco on the drums, and Topo on guitar.
BL: How did Bestia Bebé go from being a group of friends that jammed together to becoming a musical career.
BB: It never stopped being a group of friends, the only difference now is that we play more and we do this full time.
BL: Where did the name “Bestia Bebé” come from?
BB: Javier from 107 Faunos came up with it. You'd have to ask him. It's kind of a funny name that catches your attention. It's not serious or pretentious at all.
BL: One of my favorite things about the band is how versatile you are in your music. Who are your musical influences?
BB: That is a difficult questions. There are always so many influences, it really depends on the album. Lately we could say bands like Teenage Fanclub, Steve Mason, The Rolling Stones, Del Shannon, The Everly Brothers, The Verve, Fidlar, Supergrass...
BL: One of the first songs of yours that I heard was your spanish cover of Daniel Johnston's "True Love Will Find You In The End." What made you decide to cover that song?
BB: A while back the label Japón Records released a Argentinian tribute to Daniel Johnston. Tom recorded an acoustic version and sent it. After a while we began to play it as a band and when we were recording our album "Las Pruebas Destructivas", it seemed like that version was good enough to make it on the album.
BL: How did you translate it?
BB: We translated it a little from what the lyrics were while trying to make sure that it made sense in Spanish.
BL: Do you remember when you first heard Daniel Johnston?
BB: Yes, it was on a documentary they made called The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
BL: What is the music scene in Argentina like currently?
BB:It's looking real good compared to when we first started. There are a lot more bands, venues, producers, media, and festivals.
BL: A lot of my favorite bands are from Argentina. Las Ligas Menores, Prietto Viaja a Los Cosmos con Mariano, Los Reyes Del Falsete, Valentín y Los Volcanes, and a lot more. Has there been an explosion in the Argentinian music scene in recent years?
BB: I don't know if I would say that there was an explosions. Argentina has always had a lot of good bands.
BL: What is something most people wouldn't know about you guys?
BB: That we don't really know how to play and when we have live shows it's actually robots playing.
BL: What is your most memorable onstage moment?
BB: When the crowd sings “todo va a estar bieeeeeeeeeeen” in “Lo quiero mucho a ese muchacho”
BL: What would you guys like to accomplish as far as music goes?
BB:We would like to make an album as good as Metallica's Black Album.
BL: What advice would you give someone who is pursuing a musical career?
BB: Don't follow our advice haha. Try it out and give all you have. If it doesn't happen for you, then it doesn't matter.
BL: What are your goals for this year?
BB: Our plan is to put out an album this May and to keep touring around the world.
