To start things off can you introduce yourself for those who may not be familiar with you? And then ROAST them for not being familiar with you.
Honestly. Super fucked up that u dont know who I am. I'm Chase and I started worry club back in 2020 during the pandemic.
What first sparked your interest in music? And what has that journey looked like so far?
GUITAR HERO. I’ve always just wanted to rock. My dad has always been a music nerd and showed me a lot of cool and weird bands when I was younger. To this day he still sends me weird noise bands from sweden.
How did Worry Club form?
I had gone through a bad breakup and ended up recording an EP over the course of a few days. I was telling my buddy Zack about the idea of Worry Club and he drew up a few logos. I got it mastered by a dude on fiverr, chose Worry Club out of my band names folder on my phone and dropped Chases Hands through distrokid.
Were you involved in any other music projects before Worry Club formed?
I had some solo music, but this is the first band I’ve ever been in.
What has it been like coming up in Chicago’s music scene?
Chicagos music scene is the best. The venues here really feel like home and the crowds are always respectful as fuck. There were a couple stops on our last tour where we were like “yeah Chicago is the best city in the world”.
Something that I absolutely love about your sound is that you can’t really put it into a single category or genre. Your sound is like the perfect mixture of everything I like. What is the most important thing to you when it comes to creating a song? Is there anything that you like to focus on?
Thank you! When I’m writing and recording, I’ll usually get the bones of the song done. After that I’ll start looking for moments where I can add weird shit that has never been used before in a song like a super pitched around glockenspiel or an 808 that sounds like chimes. When we’re mixing, I’ll usually have a few reference tracks but once the song is sounding clean, that’s when we push it a little bit and get it to sound unlike any song I’ve heard before.
Not really a music question, but are y’all going to restock the trucker hats? I came onboard too late.
Yes:) but with a new design 🫢
Talk to us a bit about your latest EP, All Frogs Go To Heaven. What was the writing/recording process like, and what are some of the inspirations behind the EP?
This was definitely the first time I had the whole band in mind while writing it. I was imagining exactly how everyone would play these songs and that really drove me into a new direction with these songs.
I think my personal favorite track off the EP is “Same Name” can you give us some background on that song?
Yo thank you! When I made this song I NEVER imagined it would be the most popular song on the record. At the time. I made that song for me and wasn’t gonna release it. But the rest of the band wanted to play it live so bad, we ended up putting it on the EP!
Is there a memory that you think you’ll always associate with the album?
Our EP release show was like the greatest night of our lives. It was the first time we’ve played a sold out headline show. We are NEVER going to forget that night!
You were on audiotree live not too long ago! What was that experience like?
Playing audiotree was legitimately number 1 on all of our bucket lists. Growing up around the Chicago scene, we WORSHIP audiotree. I still cannot believe that happened. (we were also terrified when we were playin it)
You’ve mentioned in multiple interviews that one of your biggest influences is The Maine, and you got to open up for them last year! What was that experience like?
AGAIN, that was a real bucket list moment. I messaged John from the Maine awhile back just sending him some of my music and telling him he is like my biggest inspiration for songwriting and he hit me back and we ended up hanging for a week in Phoenix and recording a song! All of the guys in the Maine and their team are great friends of ours now and we are so GODDAMN grateful for their guidance.
Any plans to come back to Dallas anytime soon?
YES! We do have plans 😈.
I’ve seen reels of your shows on instagram, and the energy seems crazy. I need to catch a Worry Club show asap.
Do you have any pre show rituals?
I honestly poop like 3-5 times because I’m a nervous person and then I eat like twelve altoids and drink a lacroix.
What can we expect to see/hear from Worry Club in the near future?
ALBUM. TOUR. FROG MEMES.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! I really appreciate it.
Thank YOU dude. I loved your questions:)
